SPINDLE
Putting your music library back in your hands
For those with a spot of nostalgia for click wheels and MiniDiscs, the devices you were never without: we built Spindle to bring that experience back.
flac · alac · aiff · wav: at native rate. on your phone, or your own server. yours.
A player you hold.
A jog wheel you work by thumb, eyes up: it scrubs, scrolls, and spins. The tactile, click-wheel feel of a dedicated machine, not another screen of flat buttons.
Everything, one turn away.
Artists, albums, songs, genres, folders: your whole library on a shelf you can spin through. Loved and most-played stay close to hand.
Bigger than the phone.
Run your own music server? Point Spindle at it and your whole collection sits next to the files already on your phone. Works with Navidrome and other servers speaking the Subsonic API. Streams the original file at its own rate, not a re-encode, and pins whatever you want to keep offline. Wi-Fi and cellular get their own quality settings, so hi-res never quietly costs you a gigabyte. Nothing sits in between: your phone talks to your server, full stop.
You bring the curation.
No feed. No “for you.” No algorithm, and no account with us. Just the music you own, in the order you meant it. You did the curating; Spindle only plays it back.
The way it was meant to be heard.
We’ll support your hi-fi addiction. Every lossless format: FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV, all at native rate, untouched. That’s True mode, on by default, driving a 10-band EQ when you want it, flat when you don’t; hit a snag and you can switch back to the native iOS player anytime. Gapless, AirPlay 2 for the room, and CarPlay for the drive. Scrobbles to Last.fm, if you keep count.
Paper, dark, or nothing.
Three ways to wear it: warm paper, deep dark, or nothing at all.
